arrow Gary Orr, PE, CPE, Owner, Orr Consulting

Mr. Orr is owner of Orr Consulting, a company that provides: management consulting on the development of ergonomics processes; solutions for reducing ergonomic risk factors; training in ergonomics and audits of ergonomics processes.  He worked for OSHA on the development of the ergonomics standard, enforcement cases, outreach, and education.  He has assisted OSHA in the development of their ergonomics guidelines.  Prior to working at OSHA, he was a consultant and in private industry where he designed, implemented and evaluated production and distribution facilities.  He serves on the faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.  Mr. Orr’s experience in implementing ergonomics processes and controls covers a broad range of industries including:

As a physical therapist and athletic trainer for the past 27 years has treated athletic and work-related injuries in a variety of settings - hospital, industry, college, and high school. Prior to current position – worked for Granite Hill Physical Therapy providing on-site services at Bath Iron Works.

Rachel Langlais, PT, DPT, Program Manager, MaineGeneral Medical Center

Rachel Langlais, DPT, is currently the Program Manager for MaineGeneral Medical Center at the State of Maine.  Rachel has 12 years of on-site physical therapy experience having worked with some of Maine’s largest employers at the worksite to prevent and treat work related injuries.  Rachel has extensive experience in preventative education and ergonomic consulting.  She holds a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Simmons College and a Doctorate Degree from Boston University.  As Program Manager for MaineGeneral Medical Center at the State of Maine, Rachel manages and provides oversight to the Wellness/Fitness and Disability Prevention Programs for the State of Maine, Worker’s Compensation Division.

Jamie Mallon, Vice President and Ergonomics Engineer, BS, MS, MBA, CPE, Humantech

James Mallon has experience in the automotive, aerospace, rubber, and service industries, implementing process improvement programs. In addition, James delivers presentation and training for audiences of varied backgrounds, ranging from executives to operators. His most recent client engagements include Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Genie Industries, and The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Prior to joining Humantech, he served as Manager of Ergonomics Services at Office Interiors, Inc. in Halifax, Nova Scotia. James received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Master of Science degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He also completed a Master of Business Administration degree at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, in London, Ontario. James has achieved recognition as a Board Certified Professional Ergonomist. He is also is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

Charles “Wick” Johnson, President, Kennebec Tool & Die

Wick Johnson lives in Hallowell. He is owner and President of Kennebec Tool & Die. Before joining Kennebec Tool & Die he had a construction business and was a teacher.
 
Wick has been involved in a wide variety of economic development and civic activities. He was the first Chair of the Maine Science and Technology Foundation and is past-president of the Augusta Board of Trade. In 2002 he was named Maine Small Business Person of the year by the Small Business Administration.

He was also a member of the legislatures “Laptop Taskforce” and is currently a member of the Governor’s Wood Energy Task Force. He has been a member of the University of Maine System Board of Trustees since 1998 and served as its chair from 2003 to 2006.

Wick is a business owner who thinks values matter. He is an active participant in state and local education and economic development issues and he is passionate about Maine.

Deborah Roy, MPH, RN, COHN-S, CET, CSP, Director of Safety, Health & Wellness, L.L. Bean

Deborah R. Roy MPH, RN, COHN-S, CET, CSP, FAAOHN is Corporate Director of Health, Safety and Wellness at L.L. Bean. For the previous seventeen years, she was president and owner of SafeTech Consultants, Inc. in Portland, ME. Ms. Roy received her BSN from Northeastern University in Boston and her MPH in Occupational Health and Safety from the University of North Carolina. She has written and lectured extensively on occupational health, safety, and prevention. She is certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, by the National Environmental Safety and Health Training Association, and by the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses. Ms. Roy is the Region 1 representative for EPA’s Compliance Advisory Panel (CAP) and Chair of the Maine DEP – CAP, on the Board of the Safety and Health Council of Northern New England, an AAOHN fellow and on the editorial review panel for the AAOHN Journal.

Jean Smail, PT, Intermed

Jean graduated from Simmons College in 1989 with a Physical Therapy degree and began her Industrial P.T. experience in 1994 on-site at BIW for Granite Hill Physical Therapy.  She has experience on-site opening a clinic for The State of Maine and working at the Kennebec Journal.  She is currently the Lead Physical Therapist on-site at L.L.Bean for Intermed.  She has been at L.L.Bean on-site since 1997 doing evaluation, treatment, education, and ergonomics
